Story
S / S Suur-Saimaa is a passenger ship built in 1907 at the Varkaus workshop in Varkaus. The vessel was built for the use of Liper’s Steam Boat Cooperative and launched under the name S / S Liperi. However, the cooperative sold S / S Liper to Höyryvenhe Oy Kertu as early as 1912, which continued to operate the ship first under the name S / S Orivesi II and later under the names S / S Punkaharju and S / S Sinikolmio until 1967. The vessel then operated under four different names and under two different owners until 1996. Since then, the vessel has served its owner as a restaurant ship in Savonlinna with its current name.
